Saturday morning and the weather is very nice here. A little on the chilly side, but blue sky and sunshine. Joyce and I just took a brisk 30 minute walk. Just like at home without hills!
Joyce and Patrice spent yesterday shopping while Paul and I went to Portillos for Chicago style hotdogs, then went to see the movie Apaloosa. Good western, that didn't have a lot of twists and turns so I was able to stay with it.
Motorhome is not back from the shop yet, but they know that we need it back today, as we are heading for Welcome Minnesota Monday morning.
Ron, I'm glad for you that your Dodgers are doing well. Everybody around here is about ready to jump off a bridge, with the Cubs and the Sox on the brink. So, the Dodgers will be my backup team.
George, the Taliban joke is great. Keep em coming!
Later, Ernie

Yesterday Patrice and I went to a small town settled by German immigrants in the 1860's called "Long Grove". The shops are the original buildings; we had lunch in The Tavern which has been run continuously as such since the 1800's. There is even a covered bridge in to town. We had a beautiful Fall day. The candy shop there was an old schoolhouse and has a beautiful variety of chocolates - we had a giant chocolate covered strawberry - decadent!
Ernie picked up motor home today; miscellaneous problems with the wiring system (we had to have an electric board replaced), needed a new starter AGAIN (had it replaced in Oregon already), tightened down the front bolts on the chassis and an oil change. The roads in Indiana and esp. coming in to Chicago were awful; there is so much road work still happening here. I think their roads are worse than ours.
Today we just took it easy and stayed home. Tomorrow afternoon we meet up with the friends that Patrice and I went to New York City with last year.
That's all for now - Joyce

Joyce, that place you went to sounds like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting, covered bridges, old buildings (the pictures are great as usual) and that strawberry....to die for.

Ernie, I know that different parts of the country put different things on their hot dogs, so...exactly what is on a Chicago dog? I'm going to try and help the Cub's out tomorrow by wearing a Cub's hat during the game (what the heck, it couldn't hurt). We are equal opportunity fans.

Did I hear someone mention cruise?

Hello my traveling friends,

We got your email and wanted to just let you know our door and home is always open you are welcome back anytime. We feel so blessed to have been able to have had you visit us in our home. It was an honors for us just to have you take time out of your vacation to come and spend time in our home. We enjoyed it so much and Bobbi & Rick had a blast spending time and getting to know you both. I hope you will play hand & foot with friends back in Seattle when you get home. Here is the web site for the rules. http://www.pagat.com/rummy/handfoot.html . There are many different sets of rules so just use the ones you want. I have been checking out cruises for nest summer and so has Diane. We got to get us a reunion cruise set up so we can see each other again. If you want the recipe for the banana pudding just let me know it is easy. We had our Bible small group meeting to night and we had our other 4 little grandchildren and of course Crystal had her 5 so we had 9 of the 12 tonight. Thank goodness it was at Crystal & Shane’s house tonight. Scott & Gwen went to Emily Chapman’s wedding. I am so glad you got to see your cousin after so many years and had such a good time with her & your sister. The food sounded good also. What more could you ask for good food and family. You two stay safe. Let’s watch the Amazing Race together this season each Sunday night in difference houses. Ha!!! We will talk or email after each show to see if our favorite for the week is still on or was the loser. I think I am going to cheer for the single mom & son. I better close and get to bed Church starts early in morning.

Also that strawberry looked so good.

Love you and I am praying for safe travel for you.

Karen
