Salome, Arizona

Here we are on the outskirts of Salome. Arrived 6pm (AZ is one hour ahead of Seattle - until, of course when Daylight Savings kicks in and Seattle is the same - but that's another story).

Traveled about 400 miles today mostly in desert terrain that looks like the moon and over a very rough 2 lane winding hilly road for miles and miles. No rest stops because they're all closed for 'maintenance' (or we think the state ran out of money and closed them down for a while).

We are staying in the same RV park as Tary and Wayne, our friends from Montana. We walked over to their site and even tho we were late for dinner, they were kind enough to feed us. We had a nice visit and 15 years of catching up to do. As we walked back to where our RV is parked we were amazed at the galaxy of stars that are out. Living in the city we forget how amazing the night sky really is.

Tomorrow we stay put for another day and will probably explore the area with Tary and Wayne, then for dinner have some of Ernie's BBQ'd chicken he brought from home. -Joyce

I Googled Salome, home of the fighting frogs. I can't believe you would leave before the big "Chili Cook Off" this weekend. Then again, being in the desert (all the lizards and snakes) it makes you wonder "just what do they make their chili with"?
Is that "really" chicken??????
