Stop #1 Hermiston Oregon

We made it to Hermiston about 5:30 p.m. 107 degrees!
Got set up and went to Wal Mart for a few neccesities. Toasty warm in the coach. Rear air conditioner pooped out, so we only have one functioning unit. Coach cooled down to a comfortable level at about midnight.
Saturday morning, it is warming up fast. Took a drive around the area, and took a few pictures. Getting HOT by noon. Went to a local fruit stand and picked up some local melons and vegetables.
Spent a couple hours trying to figure out the computer, downloading pictures, and accessing the blog site.
Thanks to Sheila and Keith (and a lot of phone time),we got up and running. 107 degrees again at about 5:00
Tomorrow we head for Eden Idaho, which is about 360 miles.
The next time we update this blog, we will ATTEMPT to post some new pictures. Ernie
:) :) :)
Looks like the highlight of Hermiston is WATERMELONS....this is farm country- we saw cows, buffalo, goats & horses. Lots of corn fields, even in the middle of this desert country. Irrigation is big out here - huge sprinklers going all over the place - mostly all green lawns too.
Have to reluctantly admit it was even too hot for ME!
So we went to the walmart to get a fan to circulate what air there was in the RV - we did not inhabit the parking lot with the RV, however!

Thanks to Sheila and Keith for all your help in setting this up and helping us today!
Thanks to all our friends for your positive enthusiasm and good wishes for our adventure. To Molly, Cindy and Lela for your sendoff get together at Cactus last week, Lisa and Don for a fun dinner and good bottle of rum, Pat for dropping by to see Ernie and loan him the movie RV, the gang who came over for our BBQ last week.

Wow, the pressure is on to make this interesting....So here's a totally unrelated little tidbit for all you old enuf to remember...what happened in Aug. 1977? Yes, it's true, Elvis left the building....

On to 'the garden of 'Eden' (Idaho, that is) Pictures forthcoming soon.
